HCM manufactures a complete line of shutters designed to meet the most discriminating taste. Our shutters, like the ones our forefathers built in the French Quarter in New Orleans, are intended to last for the life of the house. By using rot resistant wood and techniques very similar to those of the craftsmen who built the shutters of the French Quarter, we expect our shutters to last a similar time.
Our standard product uses 1- 1/16" thick rails and stiles which are assembled with a mortise and tendon joint. For greater strength required of larger shutters or personal taste, we can easily build from 1- 3/8ths rails and stiles. Slat size can vary in size to include 2", 2- 1/4", 2- 1/2" and 3- 1/2", the large slats currently popular as interior window treatment. The need for custom sizes to exactly meet your window size, arched tops, bi-fold or patterned shutters is easily met by our custom approach. The similarity of design affords manufacturing economies of scale, but we still make each shutter to your specifications.
We offer shutters in the following styles: Fixed slat, Rolling Slat (adjustable slat, operable plantation style shutters such as are common in the French Quarter), Bahama (top hung with fixed slat at an angle such that when propped open, you can see thru the slats), Batten in a variety of styles that include beaded, etc., and Graeber (heavy slat shutters that look more like louvered vents. These are often used on utility type areas.)
Of course we offer hardware for our shutters.
We also offer louvered doors and gable louvered vents built with the same quality. This includes cupolas, etc.
